Military Uses For The Wii Remote

Our family received a Nintendo Wii and many accessories for Christmas.  It has been great.  It actually puts the younger kids (4 & 5) on a more level playing field with the older kids and adults.  In fact, on Christmas day, no one was able to knockout Trustn (4) in boxing and both he and Greyson (5) were holding their own against Kaeley (15) and Traeden (9) in a heated game of tennis.

Anyway, who would have thought that our Christmas gift could be used by the U.S. Military…

Once Again, Class B Is Second-Class In The Eyes Of The Bismarck Tribune!

image8 Once Again, Class B Is Second Class In The Eyes Of The Bismarck Tribune!

Well, that title was the first line of a comment that I posted to the Bismarck Tribunes 11/11/2008 Local Sports page.  I get so frustrated!  Don’t they realize that the population of Bismarck/Mandan doubles when you start including the surrounding communities?  From Wikipedia: “Its population was 55,532 at the 2000 census. Its metropolitan population was 94,719 in 2000, but was estimated in 2006 to have grown to 103,242.”

Do they really think that the retail growth in the area is only because of their growth?  The support of the surrounding communities a huge part of that.

Anyway, here is the complete comment post.

Once again, Class B is second-class in the eyes of the Bismarck Tribune!

This paper continues to disappoint me in it’s lack of coverage of Class B schools.  It would be really interesting to know what percentage of the roughly 30,000 Tribune readers do not live in Bismarck or Mandan.

I had to go to the Minot Daily News site to any Class B Volleyball Regional Tournament coverage.

I’ll keep you posted.

Do Remember Punch Out?

When I was growing up, I spend a lot, A LOT of time in front of the TV playing Nintendo (NES).  There were many games that me and my friends (well mostly just one friend, Jay) liked to play:

  • Legend of Zelda

  • Kung Fu Master

  • Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out

  • And many, many more!

Anyway, I found out there was a new Punch-Out game coming out in 2009 for the Wii.

Olympic Technology Failure!

windowslivewriterolympictechnologyfailure b525image thumb Olympic Technology Failure! As reported by Geeks Are Sexy, the infamous Blue-Screen-of-Death (BSOD) made its appearance in the Chinese Olympic Opening Ceremonies

[No, this picture was not modified]

Despite this technological failure, technology saved the day during the fireworks finale.  As reported by The Guardian, half of the fireworks faked.  They used “computer simulated special effects”.  The reasoning behind this ruse is for “safety reasons”.

With faking the fireworks, filtering the Internet, human rights violations, total disregard of environmental atrocities and poisoning our children with lead paint, should we really trust anything that comes out of China?
